Request a Video at a Location
You can request a video directly from the map area, for a trip that is currently in progress or for any location of interest covered in a completed trip. For example: if you need to review an incident in a trip, you can do so by requesting a video for that incident location and time.
Note: Currently videos can be retrieved for up to the last 60 driving hours of the vehicle. If a driver gets into an accident, for example, they should let you know the crash time and location immediately, so you can request a video. Waiting a day may result in the video no longer being available on the camera.
Follow the steps below to request a video:
-
Login to the Unity application
-
Select VisionAI Hub from the left-hand side menu
-
From the VisionAI Hub menu select Trips
-
Select the desired Trip from the trips list
-
In the map area, select Click to mark location at a preferred location of a completed trip route
-
Or for a trip that is currently in progress from the map area click the Request Video button
With the Basic license you can request a video duration of a minimum of 15 seconds from the start time, and a maximum of 300 seconds (5 mins) per month per camera.
With the Standard license you can request a video duration of a minimum of 15 seconds from the start time, and a maximum of 450 seconds (7.5 mins) per month per camera.
With the Advance license you can request a video duration of a minimum of 15 seconds from the start time, and a maximum of 600 seconds (10 mins) per month per camera. Limits reset each month and do not carry over month to month.
- From the Video type drop down menu, select the desired request, options include the following:
Standard video: click on a trip line to mark a specific location and adjust the sliders to highlight the video request's time range.
Time-lapse video: Review hours of footage in just minutes. Ideal for video requests over 4 minutes. You can request up to 30 minutes of trip footage at a time.
Standby standard or time lapse video: Standby video is recorded after the trip has ended and the ignition is turned off.
-
On the pop-up window, select a preferred Start Time and Duration of the requested video (the oldest available footage date/time will be displayed)
-
Click the Retrieve button
Note: The camera must be powered on to download the requested video.
Once the video footage has been requested, an on-demand video request is sent to the camera. The camera will only receive the request when it is powered on. This will happen immediately if a trip is currently in progress, or the next time the camera is powered on if the vehicle is off.
- Once the video is downloaded, on the Map Area, click the event Requested video icon on the location selected to play the requested video
To confirm the video request was received, you will see the below updated notification with clear instructions on what to do next. To complete the video upload, please make sure the dashcam is powered on and in an open area with good cellular coverage.
The “Requested Video” will appear alongside videos for driving events for the selected trip in the Trips tab once the request has been fulfilled. The requested video will also appear in the Flagged Events tab.
Note: Until the video is available, a video retrieval pending status displays while playing the video.
The camera holds videos that have not been uploaded to the cloud for as long as possible based on the capacity of the installed SD card. Once videos are in the cloud, they are deleted from the camera. Currently the 128 GB SD card supports a 60 hour driving window to make video retrieval requests. AI events are automatically uploaded to the cloud.
