Time Lapse Video
Drivers may not always be aware of the precise moment and location of an event. Therefor Fleet Administrators can use up all of their monthly DVR quota attempting to locate the incident.
With timelapse video retrieval, Fleet Administrators can review hours of footage in minutes. A timelapse video is a collection of snapshots or video that shows the entire trip in the sequence that it occurred. Timelapse is ideal for incident reconstruction, insurance and law enforcement purposes.
Timelapse is supported by the VT-130 and VT230 devices.
Fleet Administrators can request up to 30 minutes per request. We recommend to use this feature for videos that are longer than 4 minutes. Timelapse requests count towards the DVR monthly quota.
Follow the steps below to request a time lapse video:
-
Login to the Unity application
-
Select VisionAI Hub from the left-hand side main menu
-
From the VisionAI Hub menu select Trips
-
From the Trips screen, select a Trip from the grid and review the details on the right-hand side map area
-
From the map, click on the trips blue line to mark the location and click the download icon
- From the Video type drop down menu, select time lapse
-
On the pop-up window, select a preferred Start Time and Duration of the requested video (the oldest available footage date/time will be displayed)
-
Click the Retrieve button
Note: The camera must be powered on to download the requested video.
Once the video footage has been requested, an on-demand video request is sent to the camera. The camera will only receive the request when it is powered on. This will happen immediately if a trip is currently in progress, or the next time the camera is powered on if the vehicle is off.
- Once the video is downloaded, on the Map Area, click the event Requested video icon on the location selected to play the requested video
To confirm the video request was received, you will see the below updated notification with clear instructions on what to do next. To complete the video upload, please make sure the dashcam is powered on and in an open area with good cellular coverage.
The “Requested Video” will appear alongside videos for driving events for the selected trip in the Trips tab once the request has been fulfilled. The requested video will also appear in the Flagged Events tab.
Note: Until the video is available, a video retrieval pending status displays while playing the video.
The camera holds videos that have not been uploaded to the cloud for as long as possible based on the capacity of the installed SD card. Once videos are in the cloud, they are deleted from the camera. Currently the 128 GB SD card supports a 60 hour driving window to make video retrieval requests. AI events are automatically uploaded to the cloud.
