Activate the Camera
If the camera is off, it will not be able to process the video retrieval requests. To do so, the camera must be activated by turning on the ignition of the vehicle.
If this is not safe to do so (given the vehicle got into an accident, for example), follow the troubleshooting options below to activate the camera.
For VT-130 and VT-230 cameras:
-
Shake or vibrate the camera to activate it. Based on a motion sensor, any vibration that is stronger than a car door opening or closing will activate the camera.
-
Continue to shake or vibrate the camera during upload. Continue to shake or vibrate the camera when it is active (i.e., the audio alert “Trip Started” is heard and LED’s blink) so that it doesn’t go back into suspend/off mode.
-
If there are difficulties with activating the camera. If the camera doesn’t wake up, either the battery is disconnected, or it isn’t providing enough voltage (if it’s safe to do so, turn the vehicle on) if the camera still doesn’t activate, the camera needs to be disconnected from the vehicle and connected to another vehicle to receive sufficient power.
-
Wait for upload. Once the camera is powered on and can connect to the cellular network, it should only take a few minutes for the on-demand video to be uploaded.
-
Repeat as required. The camera must be reactivated each time a on- demand video request is made.
