How to – Mark a Group Type as Protected
Protecting a Group Type, prevents other users from changing the group structure that you have created. Only users with the corresponding Group Type permissions will be able to modify Protected Group Types.
Follow the steps below to Protect a Group Type:

Log in to Unity

From the Navigation Panel on the left-hand side, click the Settings module

Select the Groups tab from the top

From the list of Groups, select the desired Group name

Click the Group type field, and click Manage group types

From the list, click the Pencil icon for the desired Group type

Add a tick in the column: Protection
-
Click the Save button
-
Click the Close button
Note: To mark Group Types as Protected, users require the following permissions to be enabled for their assigned Role: Edit Group Types, Edit Protected Groups and Group Types, Assign Group Types & Manage Groups.
