Review of Previous Inspection – Workflow
In some jurisdictions, drivers are required to complete full vehicle inspections and Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) at the end of the day, rather than prior to using an asset. In some cases, they are required to review and sign the previous DVIR for the asset, in place of doing a full inspection and new DVIR.
An example of this is in the U.S.:
-
Driver A drives Truck A on Monday, and at the end of the day, they do a full vehicle inspection and submit a DVIR. That DVIR contains 1 or more defects.
-
Overnight Monday, Truck A is fixed and the defects are marked as repaired in Unity.
-
On Tuesday morning, Driver B will be using Truck A. Driver B is not required to do a complete inspection until the end of the day, but they are required to review the previous inspection, sign saying they agree with it, and also that they agree that the defects are adequately repaired.
-
On Tuesday at the end of the day, Driver B will do a full vehicle inspection and submit a new DVIR.
