Parking Mode
Parking Mode allows the dashcam to continue monitoring the vehicle even when the ignition is off and the vehicle is parked. Fleet administrators can choose from two operating modes to balance visibility, storage use, and battery consumption.
Impact Only:
The camera records only when it detects a sudden impact or vibration. While in this mode, the dashcam stays in low-power standby to preserve battery and storage. No footage is saved prior to the event, and video requests cannot be made. This mode can be combined with Continuous or Events Only recording for enhanced coverage.
Post-Trip Recording:
After the vehicle is parked, the camera can continue recording for a selected duration in one of two ways:
-
Continuous: The dashcam records nonstop during the chosen period, allowing video requests at any time. This behaves like driving mode and uses more storage and battery.
-
Events Only: The dashcam records short clips before and after motion or impact is detected, based on the configured duration. This conserves battery and storage by capturing only key moments.
With Parking Mode, fleet administrators can tailor recording behavior to their operational needs, ensuring greater visibility and security when vehicles are parked
Follow the steps below to configure the parking mode settings:
-
Log in to the Unity application
-
Once you log in, from the left-hand side main menu select VisionAI Hub
-
From the VisionAI Hub menu select Camera Configurations
-
Select the preferred Duty Type (Light duty, Medium duty, Heavy duty)
-
Click the toggle button next to Impact to enable or disable the feature
If enable impact only is enabled, the camera stays in low-power mode and records when impact or vehicle vibration is detected. No footage available before the impact or vibration. No video requests can be made.
-
Click the Confirm button
-
Click the Save button
- Click the toggle button next to Post trip recording to enable or disable the feature (this feature can be combined with the impact only feature above)
If enable continuous recording is enabled, the camera records non-stop during the selected parking time, using standard storage and vehicle's battery. Storage space may run out, and footage will be overwritten.
- Click the Confirm button
- Specify the Duration (range between 2-60mins) of post trip recording
The camera records non-stop for the selected period, and you can request video footage at any point. Device storage fills up as it would while in driving mode. Extended use may drain your vehicle’s battery.
- Click to enable or disable the Continuous recording option
Records clips before and after detecting motion or impact, based on the selected duration. It uses less storage than continuous recording, because only key events are saved. Runs on your vehicle's battery. For full video footage during parked time, use Continuous Recording mode.
-
Click to enable or disable the Events only option
-
Click the Save button
Events recorded in Parking Mode are available in the Trips tab and appear in your trips list.
How Event Recording Works
Your dashcam uses smart vibration sensors to detect movement while driving or in Parking Mode. When Parking Mode is enabled, the dashcam may enter sleep mode to save power, instantly waking if movement or impact is detected. This can create different types of trips in your Trips tab.
Normal Trips vs. Impact Trips
When the dashcam wakes from vibration, it briefly starts an impact trip while determining whether the movement is normal driving or a Low Impact or High Impact event in Parking Mode.
After about a minute, it will either switch to a normal trip, continue the impact trip, or stop recording if nothing significant occurs.
Short or minor impact trips may appear in the Trips list because the dashcam can’t immediately identify the cause of vibration. These are kept to ensure no real incident is missed.
How Impact Trips Appear in the Trips Tab
Impact trips use the same ignition ID as the previous trip, so their events may appear grouped together.
Normal trips always start with a new ignition ID, making them easy to identify.
Filtering Trips
Use the Trips filters to customize your view:
-
Hide insignificant trips for a cleaner list.
-
Select “Parking – Impact” from the event type filter to quickly see all Low Impact and High Impact events recorded while parked.
-
Please note: Low Impact events will capture only images.
