- In Warehouse IoT, click Assets.
- Click Devices.
Search for a device
- Search any text in the list by entering text in the search on the left.
- You can also use the “filter” options to refine the device list.
- The filters include checkbox selections and dropdown selectors.
- You can apply more than one filter.
- Note that “AND” logic is used between multiple filters, while “OR” logic is used within a single filter.
Select a Device
- Click on that device’s name. Clicking on the device’s name will take you to the detail screen for that device.
- On the left side of the device profile screen you will see a device list and search bar that allows you to open the details of another device without going back to the device list. Click on any name to open that device details.
- You can also use the search bar at the top to find a device by entering any text. Note that at least 3 characters must be entered for the search filter to engage and find a device.
Expand/Collapse Sections
- Sections within the device detail screen can be expanded or collapsed using the arrows on the right side of the section header bars.
- Note: If an update has been made to any properties or settings included in a collapsed section, those changes will still take effect if the device is saved.
- The sections that appear on this screen are determined by the device type, as selected when adding a new device.
The buttons at the bottom left allows you to delete the current device, add a new device, duplicate the existing device to create a new one. Click Edit to make changes to the device. Click Go Back to return to the device list screen.
Device detail - Device information
Identify Device
- Select the Device Type from the list. Once a device is set up, you cannot change the device type.
- Enter a Name – Each device’s name is a required field used to identify the device on interface screens and reports.
- Enter the Floor – Identifies the location of the device in multi-floor facilities.
- Choose a Status – “Active” or “Inactive” - Inactive WAMs and Beacons will stop updating and sending data; for Wi-Fi devices this is for information only and does not affect the access point functionality.
- Enter a Description – This is a text field allowing you to input an optional description of the device.
General Settings
The second section of the Device detail screen contains configuration settings.
WAM

When selecting a device type, WAM, this section contains the following data:
- Environment – Select whether the environment is “Indoor” (for indoor antenna) or “Outdoor” (for outdoor antenna) from the dropdown list.
- TCP/IP Address – This is how the software addresses the WAM.
- Power Level – Choose the power level. Defaulted to maximum power, this can be adjusted to limit overlapping coverage from multiple WAMs to improve location triangulation accuracy (RF site survey recommended if this is desired).
- Synchronization Method* – This is a dropdown allowing you to choose “Ascending” or “Descending” as the synchronization method (ascending is recommended).

Device ID – This is a field for giving the device a unique identifier. This has to be unique for each WAM. The section also includes the following information that cannot be added or edited:

Device Code – Reference code sometimes used for troubleshooting.
- Subnet / Node – Configuration parameters unique to the site.
- Device Label – Text found printed on the label of the device for easy identification in the facility.
Beacon

When selecting a device type, Beacon, this section contains the following data:
- Power Level – Select the appropriate power level for the beacon. This should be defined by an RF site survey. This optimizes the coverage area to improve location accuracy depending on the placement of beacons.
- Beacon NID – Enter the beacon’s ID. This is the embedded ID of the device (similar to a MAC address).

Device ID – Enter the Device ID. This is a unique ID assigned in the system software. The section also includes the following information that cannot be added or edited:

Device Code – reference code sometimes used for troubleshooting.
- Subnet / Node – configuration parameters unique to the site.
- Device Label – Text found printed on the label of the device for easy identification in the facility.
Access Point

General Settings of Wi-Fi Access Points:
- BSSID – This is the unique network identifier broadcast by the access point (similar to the WAM ID).
- The Device Code for the Access Point. This is an internal ID assigned by the system software.
- The date a VAC was last detected. This is the last time a VAC communicated with the access point.
Note that Wi-Fi Access Points are automatically added to the system as VACs use them to communicate to the software.
- When you are finished making changes to editable elements of the General Settings, click on the Save button at the bottom of the device detail page.
WAM - Wireless Settings
- For device type, WAM, enter the following wireless setting. Click Edit at the bottom of the page, if you have already clicked Save after completing the first section.
- The Device Configuration field is a dropdown box allowing you to select the correct configuration for the WAM. The list of Configuration Features to the right will automatically adjust according to the configuration type selected.
- Click Save at the bottom of the Device detail page.
Trouble Shooting
- For a WAM device, follow the following steps to perform troubleshooting.
- The section displays three status points:
- Last Configured indicates the last time the device configuration was changed (this should only be at startup).
- Last Synchronized with software indicates when the WAM was last synchronized with Warehouse IoT. If changes were made in the software but the WAM did not confirm implementing the changes, this indicates the WAM is using old configuration data.
- Last VAC Detected indicates when the WAM last detected a VAC. If the date lags, this indicates that (1) VACs are not active in the area or (2) there is a communication issue.
- Click Edit at the bottom of the page if you have already saved the settings.
- To update the WAM’s configuration, click on Configure Now. This assigns any software changes to the WAM.
- To test communication with the WAM, click on Test Communication. This ensures the software can communicate with the WAM.

To confirm the Device ID, click Confirm Device ID. This confirms the device and software have the same ID assigned.

For a Beacon device, under trouble shooting you can view the date the Beacon was last synchronized with the Warehouse IoT software. This field cannot be edited.

When you are finished making changes in this section, click on the Save button at the bottom of the device detail page.
