VeriWise satellite (SATD200-400), Track & Trace (GSM-D100), Chassis (GSM-D150), Dry Van (GSM-D300), Intermodal Container (GSM-D400) and Fleetview 3 (FV3) cellular devices use Listen Schedules to determine timing of ping or emergency track request responses. For devices that do not have access to a power connection from a tractor (always the case for Track & Trace), the device will wake from sleep mode on regularly scheduled intervals dictated by its assigned Device Profile. If a request for its location is pending at the scheduled wake time for the asset, it will report a ping/listen response to the VeriWise website.
The precise device wake up time will be randomized within the Listen Schedule interval hours selected as part of an asset’s assigned Device Profile. For pending ping or emergency track requests, the next wake time for a cellular device will be listed under the Expected Response Time column on Ping and Emergency Track status screens.
Tracking devices with access to 7-way power connection at the time a ping or emergency track request is made will not be in sleep mode, and thus capable of returning response immediately upon receipt.
