How to – Create a Geofence
Follow the steps below to create a geofence:

Log in to Unity

From the Navigation Panel on the left-hand side, click the Map module

From the Map tab at the top select Geofences

Click the + button, and select Create geofence
The shape and size of the geofence can be manipulated by using the options located at the top of the map.
The options include the following:

Circle – cover a broad or general area

Polygon – precisely define the borders around a specific area or property
-
Line – usually good for a stretch of road
Follow the steps below to create a geofence:

Type in the address for the Geofence in the Location Search bar

Select the desired Shape, options include Circle, Polygon and Line

If required, click Clear the shape to re-create the shape

Select the desired Colour

When you define a Circular geofence the Radius size will fill in automatically
When creating or editing a geofence, users can see assets and other geofences. This feature helps fleet managers track visits to specific locations by ensuring new geofences don’t overlap with existing ones, and enables them to view real-time vehicle parking data for accurate geofence boundary setup.

Click the Show other geofences icon if you would like to see other defined geofences on the map

Click the Show assets icon if you would like to see where assets are located on the map while creating a geofence
When creating a geofence, users can define various parameters of the geofence.

In this example, an address was typed into the location Search bar, and the Circle shape was selected by default

Type in the Geofence name

If desired place a check mark next to Display Geofence name instead of address (when an asset is within this geofence, the geofence name will be displayed as the asset address throughout the application)

To control which users are permitted to see this geofence, select the desired groups from the Assign to groups drop down

If desired place a check mark next to Inheritable by children (if enabled this geofence will be visible to all sub-groups of the selected groups)

Select the desired Geofence type from the list, or type in a name to create a new geofence type

From the list make the desired Labels selection, or type in a new name to create a new label

Type in a Description for this Geofence
When creating a geofence, users can add contact information for the geofence.

Optional information includes Contact name, Phone number and Email

Type in or confirm the Geofence Address information
-
Click the Save button
The saved Geofence will be displayed in the Geofence list.
