Canadian ELD Documentation Requirements
Overview
Section 77 (7) of SOR/2005-313 says: The motor carrier shall ensure that each commercial vehicle that it operates carries an ELD information packet containing a current version of the following documents:
(a) a user’s manual;
(b) an instruction sheet for the driver describing the data transfer mechanisms supported by the ELD and the steps required to generate and transfer the data with respect to the driver’s hours of service to an inspector;
(c) an instruction sheet for the driver describing the measures to take in the event that the ELD malfunctions; and
(d) a sufficient number of records of duty status to allow the driver to record the information required under section 82 for at least 15 days.
Where To Access The Documentation
Drivers can access (a), (b), and (c) listed above from within the BigRoad ELD mobile application so hard copies are not required.
Follow the steps below to locate the ELD Information Packet:

Login to the BigRoad ELD mobile application

From the Home Screen, tap Inspect Logs

Tap 14 days plus today (Canada)

Tap view on-screen

Type in the Pin Code or Skip

Tap the link to the ELD Information Packet
Note: The Contents on the first page of the manual directs you to the instructions for Data Transfer Mechanisms (b from above), the instructions for malfunctions (c from above), and a Quick Instruction Driver Card that can be printed to keep in the vehicle that contains both b and c.
