Open Reports – Pivot Mode
Enabling Pivot Mode allows you to build Pivot Tables. Pivot tables summarize data and bring out useful insights; it lets you group your data together in different ways so you can draw helpful conclusions more easily.
You can also convert Pivot Tables into Pivot Charts that allow you to report on and explore trends based on the data.
Follow the steps below to enable Pivot Mode:
-
From the Reporting screen, click the Columns tab on the right-hand side corner
-
Slide the toggle bar next to Pivot Mode
This section allows you to configure your Pivot table parameters and has the following options:
-
Columns Names: Allows you to pick and choose which columns to include in the reports.
-
Row Groups: Allows you to include columns as Rows and group them.
-
Values: Allows you to get a value from certain column(s). For example: Count, Max, Min etc.
-
Column Labels: Allows you to separate columns based on selected data fields, as necessary.
Let's review an example for generating a Pivot Table from reporting data:
-
You want to analyze how many Assets and which Drivers in your Fleet triggered the maximum number of events for a certain time frame.
-
You also want to view the Pivot Table in a Chart format.
Example – generating a Pivot Table:
-
Click the Columns tab and ensure Pivot Mode is enabled
-
Drag and drop columns to the Row Groups section to review those columns as Rows. In this example, only the Rule type column has been included
-
In the Values section, drag and drop a column for which you would like to review the value. In this example, the Event name column has been included to review the count (number) of events per Rule type and Driver
-
In the Column Labels section, drag and drop a column for which you would like specific data. In this example, the Driver name column has been included to analyze specific driver events
Based on the Parameters selected in the previous steps, the Pivot Table now displays. The reporting data has been sliced and diced to show only the use case requirement.
You can make the following conclusions from the Pivot table for the fleet:
-
The Rule type Speed Limit has been triggered the most times by different drivers. Total number of Speed Limit Events triggered was 306.
-
From known Drivers Jessica D. had the most Harsh Braking Events (56) and Cheryl R. had the most Speed Limit Events (34).
You can also convert the Pivot Table to a chart format.
